View Full Version : Transformers 2007 J0nn0 05-13-2007, 09:22 PM Been working on this today..... gravital 05-13-2007, 11:29 PM Looks good J0nn0. Did you consider maybe a stamp of the autobot symbol on the front and a decepticon on the reverse. I think if you place it on the metal border, corner it would look really neat. SilentWarrior 05-13-2007, 11:31 PM Looks really good J0nn0. Different from the ones I have seen and the border goes really well with the theme of the movie:thumbup: J0nn0 05-16-2007, 06:26 PM Looks good J0nn0. Thanks guys, just got back from 3 days working away from home,so i'll be fiddling with it maybe tomorrow....... J0nn0 05-16-2007, 08:13 PM Hmmmmmm....just had a little paly around, and not really sure how to go about making it look like it's been stamped.... J0nn0 05-16-2007, 09:27 PM Started playing around, and waddya know!Came up with the start of another cover for this movie....... boneapart 05-16-2007, 10:11 PM I like both of them... Nice work... gravital 05-16-2007, 10:31 PM These are turning out really nice. I think I prefer the 2nd. Some advice on the 1st cover... The synopsis, I think it may look better if you were to follow the edge of it's face. You have the arc established by the forehead, why not just continue using the rest as the left text border? J0nn0 05-17-2007, 07:30 AM Thanks for the kind words guys. @Gravital:Yeh,i tried to do that, but the only way i know of doing it,is to make a rectangle, then EDIT>>>TRANSFORM>>>WARP.It is very difficult to get complex shapes that way, unless you know another way of doing it........ SilentWarrior 05-17-2007, 07:46 AM Both versions look really nice J0nn0...:goodpost: gravital 05-17-2007, 01:15 PM Indeed I do. If you are familiar with illustrator it is a breeze. If not the same can be achieved in PS with a little more effort. Let me know which you prefer and I will explain. boneapart 05-17-2007, 01:46 PM Indeed I do. If you are familiar with illustrator it is a breeze. If not the same can be achieved in PS with a little more effort. Let me know which you prefer and I will explain. Please post your explination for Photoshop here. Then all photoshop users will be able to check it out. Thanks. J0nn0 05-17-2007, 06:35 PM i am currently using PS3 v10,PS is all i've ever used,so post what you know my man! http://board.freeones.com/images/smilies/hatsoff.gif gravital 05-17-2007, 10:19 PM Okly dokly, here she goes... *I do not have a version of PS to work with on this computer so most of this is going to be from memory. So, I apologize for any confusion along the way. *Oh yeah, I have a tendancy to over-explain things. Sorry, it is just a habit I picked up along the way. 1. Type up the text. At this point you really do not need to worry about shape or placement. It will be refined later. 2. Position the left column to the left most area to fill. In otherwords you are going to want to move the start of this text; from what I can see to the corner of megatrons nose bridge. Do not place the 1st line there. You just need to have the column positioned as far left as you want the column border to go.This will be the left column extreme. 3. From here you are going to start with the 1st line of text and work you way down. 4. Use the space bar to move each line to border the face outline. This will be a rough version at 1st and refined later on so just get the closest match you can get to border you have decided upon. 5. Once the left column border i roughed in for that 1st line start the rough of the right column border. MOve the cursur to the end of the furthest complete word that can be contained by the right border. Delete the space between the one that fits and the one that does not. Hit return. * Complete steps 4-5 until all text conforms to this rough border. * By rough , I mean that it does not have to be exact at this point. You are just aiming for as close as you can get without splitting words up. 6. Once you are done with the entire body of text check it over for any possible minor adjustments. If there is some thing that is major, you can fix it. However I would suggest that you pay close attention and make sure that you do not make errors along the way. 7. If it has checked out OK then proceed to adjustthe kerning ( This will look something like A<>A. You will enter numeric values to move the space between the letters. the lower the value the closer the letters are. The larger the value the further apart they will be. 8. The first thing to adjust kerning on is going to be the spaces for the left column. Highlight these and adjust accordingly. This will have to be done line by line. You will need to do the entire left before moving to the right. 9. For the right column select the line of text minus the spaces you just fixed and adjust the kerning it to fit the right border. 10. Continue doing this for each line until the entire right border is complete. *Most of this can be done by eye. The angles are not extreme enough to need guides. However if you feel that you need guides, go for it. There is nothing wrong with being precise. 11. Again check your work and make those minor adjustments that are needed. 12. YOU ARE DONE! ! ! * I also noticed that on the last few lines of text there is a distortion. Something like a skew. If this was simply a sideeffect of the warp and not really wanted... great. However if this was intentional... Still no prob. You can stretch text vertically and horizontally to mimic the effect. This can be found in the charachter and paragraph toolbar. It works the same as kerning. I would suggest doing this prior to the kerning. This way everything will follow a logical process of not creating more work for yourself. Well logical to me anyways. Hope This helps. If you still need more info or a bit more clarification on something, let me know and I will strive to comply:biglaugh::D nonini 05-18-2007, 09:53 AM Great start on those 2 covers J0nn0, I like them both, great idea of the borders. Cheers nonini.:) J0nn0 05-18-2007, 10:27 PM @Gravital...thanks for that in depth guide,i'll give it a go,but i think that is going to be too complex, and too time consuming for my limited patience, but i will try it. Have worked on the 2nd cover today, and i think it's just about done..... gravital 05-18-2007, 11:11 PM Looking Good J0nn0. I especially like those symbols!!!! As for the text. Don't be put off by the length explaination. As, I said I tend to over explain. Once you do it it will not seem so tedious. J0nn0 05-19-2007, 11:58 AM Have now finished this 2nd Transformers cover, and made it with 7 different character fronts.Won't bore you by showing all 7 previews,i'll just upload them all, with the matching labels as well. SilentWarrior 05-19-2007, 12:10 PM Look forward to seeing all character versions J0nn0. I really like the first two in this thread...nice progress and work on these.
