I agree Kylumi. I would have to say it is not a plu-in. It may even be as simple as a frame template. Add a few layer property effects and presto 1 acid blood burn through. It was an excellent idea and done quite nicely.

ILC,
Give me some specifics on what you are tryin to do. You state that you want to have the same effect of ripping through the cover. In order to help you out I will need all information you can give up.

i´ll try to explain as good as i can :), well the thing im trying to do is add some movie still pictures too the back cover, its only the movie still pictures i want to make the "ripping through design" meny others make a frame around the movie still picture i just want too do this, it is not the whole back cover, only images from the movie, that many custom makers put on the back cover. i hope this helps a little m8

I understand what you want to do. You want the border around your screen shots which resembles a ripping effect as in the alien cover?

That yellow blood/rip would have been what the artist began with. It was most likely extracted from a picture, had a yellowish color applied and embossed/bevelled. It looks like the inner/ center may have been cut out leaving a border. The artist could have then placed the black image with stars over the top, enabled layer mask and brushed around the borders following the yellow rip to cause that effect.

I don't know if the artist used the method I just mentioned but its possible. There are other ways you can do this as well. Perhaps Gravital can explain better than me:p

After an hour spent messing around with this i realised that to replicate the original was going tke a good bit of time...........
so, I cheated and just made a version of my own...........it is pretty neat and can be made into all kinda frame shapes etc.

First I made ABR (brush). I did this by scanning a nettle leaf and just using the parts i needed to make the frame.
Then I cut out the middle and made my Brush from this.
I then spattered some Blood brushes around using another layer.
Then I merged the layers together.............added a bit of bevel and style...........stuck a piccie in the middle and that was that.

Anyways here are the examples ( a little rough I know, but, i wont be using em......heheheheheh) and the Brush ABR..........The Brush is very high resolution........be warned!

The first and the second.............are made using exactly the same brush .........just the first has been flexified more plus..........i added more "splatter".

The main thing is the brush..............you can add all the other bits and pieces to it:thumbup:

I actually made the whole thing on my WORK PC and could not see how bad it turned out until I got home................hahahahahaha.......

anyways, you get the idea.

PSD files have been sent m8:thumbup:
