View Full Version : Toshiro Mifune Covers
sleepyhead 08-27-2008, 08:59 PM Could I get your opinions on whether these are worth continuing with or is it the bin.
I thought this was a decent way of portraying a Japanese 'feeling' without being too over complicated.
They're going to be basic coz of lack of material and having them like this means I only have to find pics good enough to use as screens.
TIA
RandySherifu 08-27-2008, 09:29 PM nice layout bru, i like

ulookingatme 08-28-2008, 12:14 AM Never heard of Toshiro Mifune but these covers work very well Sleepy :)
SilentWarrior 08-28-2008, 03:13 AM Wow that looks great sleepy! The front and back is so well balanced and does capture Japanese culture. I haven't seen this however this looks to be the beginning of a quality collection so please continue :)
batboysmatboy 08-28-2008, 05:08 AM I have to agree with all the other posts. Well done.
You are lucky that you couldn't find more artwork. It made you delve deeper into that creative spirit of yours and you have created a understated work of art that captures the spirit of Elegance. There is something moving in their look. I can't quite put my finger on it, but they definitely stir an emotion.
On another note, the colors from the collection balance well together. By all means, please continue on the collection.
Very well done sleepyhead, very well done.
sleepyhead 08-28-2008, 04:52 PM Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated guys.

Well ULAM obviously with most of his films made in 50's and 60's some people are not going to know who he is but I've got to say "The Hidden Fortress" is one of my all time fav foreign films, it's showing it's age now and there are no whizz bang special effects or anything of that sort but everytime I watch this the two thieves crack me up..
Edit:
Here's how they're looking so far.
If anyone has a reco for these then please let me know before I do too many
Bisky 08-29-2008, 01:31 PM looks absolutely awesome mate, what happend to Seven Samurai, thats my fav!

batboysmatboy 09-01-2008, 08:44 PM As I said in my previous post, "you have created a understated work of art that captures the spirit of Elegance" and "the colors from the collection balance well together"

dragonbane 09-01-2008, 10:56 PM i think i'm gonna have to go on the hunt for these films sleepy set looks stunning mate, the simplistic aproach works really well.
batboysmatboy 09-01-2008, 11:22 PM Thank you
Bisky 09-02-2008, 12:14 AM I`m the exact same, lol, Ive only got "Seven Samurai" but I wanna hunt the rest down now because this set is brilliant it really is.
Kevan 12-02-2008, 12:11 PM Outstanding design and use of color... Top man...
I'd include John Boorman's HELL IN THE PACIFIC and give it the same Japanese theme you've established with your box set designs.. Would be interesting to how this movie fits in with the other Toshiro Mifune titles..
Master work paying homage to a master actor in master movies...
Masterful...
