Fuzion Cup - April 2008

Welcome to the voting stage of the Fuzion Cup for April 2008. All entries are in and ready for your valuable votes.

This month, entrants were required to design a cover and label set based on a science-fiction film created between 1975 and 1985. In addition to this entries were required to display a ray(s) of light. All entry previews are presented below, linked to their full size versions in the gallery and are ready for your inspection. Vote for the design which you believe deserves to win the most. We also encourage everyone who votes to leave a comment/feedback for why an entry/s deserves to win.

Happy voting and Good luck to all participants.

Entry 7 for me.

Looks the best in my mind. The red colours make it stand out also like the work to the back cover

Ok... I agreed with SFLA, so I went ahead and withdrew my comments I posted.... so instead I will say, I love all the covers, and it was a very hard decision, but I did end up voting for entry 6....

Crap the first time I enter so does everybody else,LOL. Rooker Productions your comments are mostly right on and constructive but I feel that by posting opinions it could influence votes so am a fan of no comments until after voting. RP this is not directed at you just my two cents.

Well took me about 15 mins or so to have a good scan at all the covers, had to keep going back and forth checking stuff, then another 15 to read RPs 2nd post and have another look see and then finally came to a decision - which is..... it's a bloody tough choice this month!

Congrats to all the entrants - some really outstanding covers.

Well although there are wicked entries i voted entry 7 the back work is brilliant
and that special features box is so cool. Disagree with the red issue the main color
essence of the first terminator movie was red, second was silverish blue and the third blue.

I like Entry 8, The Terminator Blu-Ray. I like how the disc hole is where the eye's supposed to be. Plus the artwork on the front is cool.

WOW! Some great entries here, making yet again this decision very tough! Thanks for all who entered - top class ppl!

My choice was after some thought narrowed down to 2 entries. Took me awhile, but finally I was able to finetune on the one that had the most if it all!

Great stuff!!!

I liked 7, and i felt bad as a huge superman freak i didn't vote for it, but 7 stood out alot, the first terminator case was wrong, it had the terminator from 3 and the kid from 2 yet it was the first terminator movie, am i wrong? Am i missing something?

All very nice entries...

Had a close look at the all...doesn't entry 4 have the cast for Terminator 2 on the front...entry 1 uses an image of Spock from the original TV series not the movie...very nice covers besides...

voted for entry 6 after long deliberation...just excellent work all round

Another excellent array of work. The decision gets harder every month! All very professional covers. I too had to spend ages looking again and again at the choices. In the end I vote for No. 1, it was the label that swayed my decision in the end, beautifully balanced and compliments the cover very well.

One day I will find the time to complete my first cover. lol :)

Well done to all, a credit to this great community.

These are all good, but the main thing was that Rays had to be added in the cover, so I chose the one that in my opinion full filled the rules of the comp best... I'll leave it to you guys to figure out which one that was...

As all covers are good, (and didn't know they had a 2000 model Truck in 1978 :biglaugh:) I to chose the cover I felt had the best rays of light. Great turn out on the number of designs this month

All the covers this month are amazing i wish i could do something as good as all of them but for me it has to be number 5 as its my all time best film i just love Weird Science..It was also my first DVD i bought as an import...

RookerProductions
04-21-2008, 03:51 PM
I see rays of light in all but 3.... Could be wrong, might all have them, but only 3 of the covers I can't spot any rays on.... But yeah besides some minor flaws on some covers, all these covers are top notch... Gonna be great to have all of these offered in the gallery.. Good Job to everyone..... I gotta tell ya, I thought I was gonna be at least top 3... I won't tell you if I'm winning or losing! BUT DAMN.........

I also noticed that the Blu-Ray covers are using the DVD Region Logos (1, 2, etc) instead of the Blu-Ray Region logos (A, B, C).

Just a minor flaw but worth remembering in the future...

Oh my. An overabundance of talent here, how to choose just one? Not easy, by a long shot. Soooo, I whittled it down after repeated comparison to the cover I would be most proud to show off on my shelf, the one I thought was the most eye-catching without any terribly blatant booboos, the one that had (to me) the most appealingly relevant ray(s) of light. And I ain't telling which one, either, lol. Scintillating covers, all. Great work, peoples!!

I am amazed at the quality of these entries. I personally went for No. 4 - it was stunning. Although I must say so was Dune, awesome work to everyone. And so talented, thanks for sharing these!

Hope the artist who did entry 7 will do similar versions for terminator 2 and terminator 3.
as the technical detail on the back is impressive but the front detail is impressive also.
love the lighting effect and the computer geomentary below title and the title itself is
showing the red light reflecting how did you do that?...

I agree Really hard this month! Only been on a few months and some have been tossing up two in the air but this month a "God wish I could vote for 4 left my lips and my wife said what? hahahahahahahah" YES I HAD TO EXPLAN THAT ONE!!!!! hahahahahha Everyone met all the criteria and did it superbly! My congrats and my thank you for allowing me in this group! I have never seen better artwork and all my friends ask me where I get my special covers! hey just gawk and talk about how unique my collection is. Hell it hurts to say I make a duplicate of my original DVD and then throw the original away so I can have only the rarest designs! :) hahahahah I love you guys!

Hi, compliments for the job truly beautiful, but some of them IMHO have some mistakes.

1st cover
- the Spock image is the Tv serial and not the motion picutre (and it's also smudged)
- the screen in the back is in anamorfic format

3rd cover
- The Pickup in the front looks too "new" to suit the movie year ('78)
- specbox looks incomplete (several dots "....." at the end of language and subs)

4th Cover
- the images are not only from the 1st Terminator movie
- in the legal "ghrtijhnònfhòsnthsthgnòs" ?????? and the 2005 date
- in the spine DVDlogo is lost

7th Cover
- the back image is not from terminator 1

;)

I spotted the errors on 1 and 4, wasn't sure about 3 and 7...you are better tahn me at finding 'mistakes'. I must admit I never read the 'legal' section, but I do find a lot of templates do contain gibberish in some places so I tend to 'cut n paste' into a fresh template.

Saying all that, these covers are still awesome work.

you forgot to mention entry 2 back images are low res and the sandworm you can count the blocks, they have used a bad filter for the sand and moons next to it also.

as for others they are spot on apart from the 7th entry been looking at it and don't see what you mean everything looks to be from terminator 1 sarah and kyle reese the terminator behind is the T-800, screencaps seem to be from the first movie only thing i can see that your on about is the special features area..........
