RP offered to challenge someone to a friendly duel recently and I accepted. The movie agreed upon was Blood Diamond for the Blu-ray edition. This is simply a friendly 1-on-1 to get our creative juices flowing as challenges always seem to bring the best out of designers.

This will be good. One of them is a lighter and the other is darker, a nice contrast.:thumbup:

both covers are really tight you 2 got some mad skills

Both are excellent covers.Great work gentlemen. The only draw back I see is with Challenger 2's cover. The spine, the explosion and rock line match with the front cover superbly but the skyline above Leo heads throws the cover off to me. So I am voting for Challenger 1.

Very hard decision. The back of No.2 is clearly more developed and slightly better. But for the front it's IMO the other way around. Although I really like the colors in No.2. The clean cuts in don't fit so well with the movie like the dirty look of No.1...
Concerning the spines I have to agree with tightline. The blue sky and the skyline in the character pic of No.2 should have been cut out. So with a very tight 2:1 victory my vote goes to No.1!

Have to agree with Tightline and Thorn...the spine on No. 2 loses it for me. I would have left the Image off the spine (or merged the edges down)...so No.1 gets my vote.

cover 2 is WOW

Well for me, it's Cover No:2... There seems to be a lot more work put into it...

I prefer the TT and spine of No.1 but prefer the back of No.2 although the big barcode puts me off as little...........aaarrrrgggghhhh decisions decisons!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just want to say, that I think that No.2 has taken a lot more work might just seems so to us. The gritty look, with hardly any clean cuts and straight lines and the TT of No.1 surely took more time than one might imagine on the first look. With the back I agree. No.2 must have taken more time and looks better. Although you could argue that No.1 is more retail-like. The Warner Bros. Covers tend to be a little 'reduced', giving much less infos and screens than most other studios.

Good things about both covers, like the front of No.1 better and the back of No.2 looks fab - Taking all things into account No.2 just shades for me.

I like em both! The back on #2 is what makes me pick that one as a winner.

my vote and explination:-

Cover 1 :-

The fonts on the synopsis and special features just don't blend with the rest of the
cover, the spine could've done without the 2 images as the text would have been suffient.
The front is ok but De Caprio and Hounsou could have been overlayed with a slight color to
that of the background and the drop shadow next to Hounsou is to strong and makes it look
aweful could do with removing or at least drop the opacity to around 35 on it.

Cover 2:-

Back looks almost perfect but there is two problems with it one is the synopsis is way to close
to the barcode needs to be move away from the barcode and the other is Hounsou holding the
diamond he needs a little color as he looks like he just planted there and doesn't blend (colorwise)
with the rest of the other images on the back give him a greenish tint like the middle image in
the screen caps box...
Spine well looks ok but De Caprio just doesn't look right where he is maybe reduce him in size and
add a gold stroke about 3 px and move him down a touch then move the title down abit also....
Front looks perfect just move the cast names down a pixel...

after that my vote went to cover 2 ;)

Very tough, but for me it came down to three things:

1. I don't really like the pics on the spine on Number 1. They just seem like they were placed there as an afterthought.
2. Even if the pics on the spine looked good, I'm not a fan of using the same picture multiple times on a cover.
3. The barcode on Number 1 is for the movie "The Dark"

I voted for Number 2.

Just noticed that cover 1 has the copyright details for The Omega Man...

Well thanks for all comments people.. I took it all in and I fixed the problems everyone listed on my cover.... So when this competition is over, I will be uploading the edited version.... Thanks again...

Well the poll has ended and so the names have been revealed in the first post and the poll now reveals the names as well. Thanks to everyone for voting. I have already made the changes to hounsou and made some spaces in between the upc and synopsis (thanks demon for pointing that out) and will now re-upload the cover. Thanks RP for for challenging me here, was fun m8. I think you had a great entry :thumbup:

O, and what sucks was I noticed I forgot to change the Omega Man right when you posted them.. I was all.. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.... Honest Mistake... Damn....
