It's a toss-up between Saving Private Ryan & Full Metal Jacket.

Yes, Иди и смотри is a very disturbing movie Kronos and hailed as a major film Russia!

War movies................they are all great........I guess it is impossible to choose from this genre...........Historic re-creations such as:

The Longest Day
The Great Escape
ALL Quiet on the Western Front ( Original Edition) For serious collectors only.
A Bridge to Far
Torbruk

The you get the Yankee stuff.........which depicts them winning every in sight!
Actually to date the US as a nation has never manged to win any war single handedly! Luckily we were able to win the Battle of Britain (Thanks to ACM Sir Hugh Dowding)..............while the Americans were still letting the Japanese take photographs of their beautiful harbors...............hehehehehe

Platoon
Blackhawk Down
The Deer Hunter
Apocalypse Now
FMJ
and a million more

Oh, boy - there were so many good ones...

I agree - Glory was wonderful. I don't care what the critics said, it's one of my favorites.

Platoon, We Were Soldiers, Black Hawk Down, Braveheart (historical, but plenty of battles), Windtalkers (if you can get past John Wu's action sequences), Air America - all worth a bowl of popcorn.

For a WW II movie Saving Private Ryan for the first 30 mins. alone! I remember seeing it in the theater and having to catch my breath after it was over.

For Vietnam I think Platoon was a bloody great one.
