I have a thought. I can easily find a dvd cover with a low resolution like 72 or 92 dpi. Let's say if I have a cover which is 1200 x 800 (72dpi). If I print it out with color laser printer or inkjet printer with photo paper by 5.4" x 3.625" or smaller. Scan the print out with 1200 dpi, then shrink it again with 300 dpi. What is quality of the new print out going to be? Anyone can tell me if it's possible or not? Thank you.

From experience this does not work very well. I haven't tried it with dvd covers just with images/ photos. Although you can try it for yourself and see the results.
