Well, the current buzz is that if Peter Jackson directs, it will delay the filming, because he si currently so busy with other projects. He has reportedly said that he doesn't want to make fans wait, and that is why someone else will direct, while Jackson retains creative control. Of course, if the fan community shouts loudly enough that they would rather wait and have PJ direct than get it sooner without him directing, he may change his mind.

I would wait if directed by him, or he could pull a Spielberg like in Poltergeist. Tobe Hooper had hardly nothing to do with directing.

I heard that Sam Raimi might be up to the director chair. And that this would be the first of twomovies.
