gravital 11-24-2007, 04:57 AM Most of my stuff I have with me is outdated and now seems a little dull but ya never know sombody may get a kick out of it. Not sure how this will work but hey, I will be the guinea pig.:)
College project: 1998? or thereabouts
Title : Intials in motion
The task: To creativly incorporate your initials into a motion graphic and add sound.
Program: Adobe After Effects
So, this does have sound and should be played with it. If not, yer takin away from it. The res is not large so a full screen preview is not optimal.
SilentWarrior 11-24-2007, 05:05 AM Old school stuff...thanks for sharing. It does need the sound on, you're right. I listened to it the second time with the sound on and it adds much more life to the animation.
Damn, in 1998 I didn't know what adobe even was.
shaunofthedead9 11-24-2007, 05:44 PM Very nice and simple. The sound makes a world of difference. Thanks g-man.
gravital 11-24-2007, 09:39 PM Thanks guys :)
Next I got a little piece called "My Tattoo"
Yes it is in the works. The outline is already on me and portions of it are colored. However, my brother is doing it for me and he is just starting out so all is slow going. Add a year and a half in Iraq and it goes slower still.
There are four images here. The Sleeve, chest, back and how it all fits together. These are not masterpieces or anything of that nature. Rather just a tool to help my bro figure out how he was going to accomplish this huge task.
Whenever it all gets done (Next year when I get back) I will post the actaul masterpiece pics of how it turned out.
shaunofthedead9 11-25-2007, 04:59 AM Not bad there g-man. How bad did that hurt? I have two on my arm but damn it's nothing like that. Awesome design, did you do that yourself?
gravital 11-25-2007, 03:51 PM Of course it is my own design. My fist 2 tats were when I was younger and ignorant. I did not know any better. Since then I have designed for others as well as myself. The ones for others have been much more detailed and in an actual pencil drawing style.
The only reason I did not go all out on the drawing ofor mine is that I was going to be there for the process and could correct and explain from memory.
As for the hurt part. The needle process did not hurt it was the stretch of skin over hours inconjunction with the rubber glove texture that was painful. If there had to be a "most painful payrt I would say the sternum (right were the rib cage meets). The shoulder/collar bone area tickled to the point I was invoulantarilly jumping around. So some of the lines that carry over to the back are not the straightest. Hopefully the shading will take care of that.
nonini 11-25-2007, 06:33 PM Very nice motion and great tattoo images :goodpost: you made gravital.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
Cheers nonini :)
gravital 11-25-2007, 09:37 PM Thanks nonini.

tightline_69 11-25-2007, 10:54 PM Very cool Gravital. The sound does give the animation depth. Nice tat designs as well. I will have to agree as far as the shoulder blades go, mine were ticklish as well. I have one on my chest that hurt like hell as it felt as though my nipple was being pulled off. I have one other tat I will have done that too is of my own design. It is of a Cheyenne wolf warrior. The warrior has the upper torso and head of a muscular wolf and the lower body has the traditional buckskins.
gravital 11-26-2007, 12:39 AM Thankya knidly there tightline 69.
Sounds like you should start a thread and take some pics of your tats and display for all to see. Whadda ya think?
gravital 11-26-2007, 01:31 AM I was going to drop in a penciled walk cycle for a cartoon lizard but then relized that I wanted to get this outta the way first. This is the full version of the animated gauntlet. You can actually see the detail in this.
2 files in the rar...1 from the left the other from the right.
gravital 11-29-2007, 10:50 PM Well seems like no one was too interested in the gauntlet revisted stuff so...
Here is a walk cyle for a cartoony lizard. Again there is nothing extravagant here. These are done in animation more for mechanics and seeing how things will work. On occasion they can be applied to an animation with a sliding background and or foreground. Thought someone may take an interest.
It is just kinda neat seeing something you draw take on life in moving around.
JollyRoger 12-02-2007, 11:16 AM You are awesome, G! Cool stuff!

Sorry... didn't see this one at first. This is VERY impressive! :multi:
gravital 12-03-2007, 03:31 AM Thanaks bud. I still have so much more to up but I only can do it at certain times when the connection here is optimal. That on top of uploading covers, logos, TT, avatars, and other random things takes it toll and eats up a lot of time. I will try and get some more in here soon.
gravital 12-05-2007, 05:55 PM Here is another motion graphic with sound and a walk cycle for a happy cartoon dog.
The idea behind PS clip was to create a short clip approx. 10 secs. in length to be used at the end of a program/televiosion show. You know "brought to you in part by" or "sponsored by" and then they let the vids roll and you are show who helped in the process.
The walkcycle is just another mechanics tool.
Hope you like it.
SilentWarrior 12-07-2007, 08:27 AM Wish I could draw like that, you really got a gift there.
gravital 12-07-2007, 09:00 PM Thanks for the compliment Boss.
gravital 12-11-2007, 04:00 AM This is something that I started about 2 yrs ago when I was deployed to Afghanistan. The idea is that this is the opening scene for a 3D model of a samurai that I built. In it he will perform a kata using his katana. The name of the character is Terumoto Sozen Ota... hence Ota clan in the project.
I have yet to get to the 3D animation part due to a rebuild on the character. It was way too heavy in polys so I needed to refine and downsize the amount of information as well as redo all of the texture maps. I will complete it eventually... I hope.
This opening scene is still a WIP but I think it still looks neat enough to show. This does have sound to it.
nonini 12-11-2007, 07:13 PM That looks good gravital.
A great 3D animation
Cheers nonini :)
JollyRoger 12-11-2007, 10:43 PM This is awesome G!
gravital 12-12-2007, 02:02 AM Thanks you kindly guys.
nonini,
It is not a 3D animation just a 2D. the 3D will be composited in later.
