Just letting You know what I'm currently working on. (and yes... yet again a Danish cover (a request) - but don't you fret! If it turns out well - I'll be translating as usual)

This front/back thing is just a thought - and maybe it won't go this way... Time will tell... (and Yes - I can see that the blending between poster art and texture is not 100%... yet)

Thought of applying a ripping effect across the backside for stills (i.e. the backside torn violently in two) - anybody got a good idea how that could be accomplished?

Looks like an interesting start. I am not sure what you mean by adding a ripple and being torn violently in two. Seperatly they make sense but the 2 together kinda sound contadicting. Pleas go a little further in depth with the explaination. As I am interested in what you mean.

An idea for the back text or elements. How about carring over the same under the skin TT style? That would be pretty cooll lookin if you could pull it off.

Looking very cool JR. Like the texture you have used as well and I think a ripping effect will work well.

well ripping makes more sense. Sorry bro. I kinda am in fast forward mode when reading the posts. You never know at what point the page will timeout.

Now as for the violent rip. and splitting in two. You could start it with a bug moving from the front into the reverse and about 3cm from the spine it starts to burst through the skin. That would be the violent break start. The bug could actually be somewhere over in the left top or middle. The wake tha it would leave is the violent rip you are looking for.

If I need to explain ofurther let me know.

As for the effect. It does not look too difficult to achieve. Some layers with transparency and multiply as a blend method, maybe even a large bevel with little opacity.

Did this prior to your post, G. Maybe I'll reconsider...

I like the ripping JR. For the bug TT effect I would try to create a transparent bevel, add a darker shadow on the bottom and lighter shadow on top.

Really liking this cover JR great rip effect (how did you do that in the end)?

Are the bugs your creation or did you find them?

Thx, m8!

The rip effect was quite easy actually - I'm sure one of the BIG boys would have done it differently - but this is my version. Making the texture/background slightly larger than the actual cover I used the eraser with a crack brush (no! Brushes are NOT just for drawing lightning n stuff) to make the rip effect. Then added bevel to the whole background texture. Since the edge on most of the texture is not visible - it is only the rip which has the effect. then added several more cracks - and taking some cockroaches (meanest creature in the universe) off the net - I placed them around the rip.

Now I'm not totally satisfied with this yet - so I'll be working on the rip for a while, until I'm satisfied. Then I'll decide where I'll go from there.

Any ideas I can use in my brainstorming on the futher development will be appreciated - and be taken into consideration. :multi:

Cheers, JollyRoger

This is now looking really great JR. The only little thing that I think would make it slightly better would be to put a couple of Feelers on the Bug breaking through the cover. Who knows, maybe you could attach another bug breaking through in a different place... Just a thought... It's your cover and it's looking excellent...
