Ok have gone so far but have now run out of any decent artwork and ideas lol.

I'm looking for this image as a whole TV at the moment (with the lips sticking out of the TV, i have it on DVD so may see if i can grab a screenshot from it), would appreciate it if anyone has come across this or any other artwork for this film please.

You've done a good job on carrying the front cover background over to the back and spine, but the top 3rd of the back and spine is darker than the rest. Hope you understand what I mean.

Yeah i did notice that bit, not quite sure why but i'll have another go on at that bit, i may try and flip the main pic and see if its any better the other way round.

Good progress on this. However I will agree that the darker line group on the top of the reverse does stick out to me. It looks like you could copy the lower portion and move it into place over the darker area and the prob will be solved.

I agree about the darker area as well. Otherwise its looking very good. I like what you have done with the TT as well.

I have been able to find that image although it isn't as wide as the one you showed.

Not sure what happened there but i managed to do another copy and it seems a lot better :D
Whadya think has it lost its darker top portion?

Cheers for that pic SW, i'll see if i can use that.

For now i found a pic of an old TV and i took out the screen part and added a nice pair of kissable lips
Its still only rough and needs some of the screen edges taken out, ive just plonked it right in the middle of the cover for now, im just trying out some placings but it wont stay there and will be blended in somewhere!
Im hoping to be able to add some text to it maybe down the right hand side too.

The problem with my covers is that i always seem to take on ones where there isnt much artwork for the film (or if there is i havent found any lol)

I really am digging the second version. Like I said before I have been waiting for a cover for this movie. I am also working on one and like you artwork is sparse.

Ok had a little go this morning, not sure whether to use the red border or not, is the front 'too blue' without the border?

Can you see what ive done to the TV behind the text?
I got a pic of a old TV and took a screenshot of the lips and blended them together, on the right of the TV i added the title and some other text, but i had to blend it to 40% opacity so you could see the synopsis properly
Does this work or not im really not sure ???

I think You're on to a great idea! But as it is the synopsis doesn't cut it for me. Try to keep it inside the screen. As it is, it's very hard to actually see the TV set underneath.

Yeah i think your right, i may have to cut the synopsis down quite a bit otherwise it wont fit in the screen.

I agree that the text should be contained to the screen of the TV used. I also think that the TV looks strange being partially transparent. I think that it would look better if it was solid. You could also add the glow of the light being emitted from the screen.

Another Idea... How about just a screen with all the text in it. This would mean that you will ahve more space to play with.

Ok have increased screen size and put synopsis 'in' the screen.

Have made a few alterations to the TV in general(added text to right-hand-side, added inner or was it outa glow lol to it)

Used red text with drop shadow for synopsis to make it stand out a bit more.

Not sure how to make the screen glow and emit light though!

Is there too much happening on the back with the TV and filmstrip?
Have done one without filmstrip also.

What i'm trying to do is something like the TV ripping through the cover (like ive seen people do with 'The Hulk' covers) but i havent done that before so i'll be practising that for a few months before i go any further with the is cover

Although a handy tut may come in useful for this **nudge nudge** :D

I do think that the film strip is a little much. I have another idea for you. Instead of a filmstrip how about some closed circuit monitors set up to display the screen caps. I am taking this idea from the movie snatch. In the begining as they are rolling the credits the camera is following some guys around. I just thought that having 4 small monitors all in varying positions would be a neat little touch.

For emitting a glow. There are a few ways to go about doing this. I think that the easiest for you is going to be a inner and outter glow. Make a selection of the monitor (just the screen) copy and paste it in front of the original image and then apply the inner and outter glows. Keep them around the same intensity and play with the blend meathods and transparency to get it to look right.

Great idea with the monitors, havent seen the film Snatch for a while but i do have it for reference :D
Ok ive had a little play around, got rid of strip for now(maybe put back if screens dont work out)

Did you mean something like this?

Those arent the films screencaps they were there already so will add those later if this idea works out.

Sorry for gettng back so late. It's Iraq bro she's a cruel little minx.

I was thinking more along the lines of all four under the main TV and strewn about randomly. and different angles. While they will all be level, they could each be twisted toward the viewer at different angles. Maybe one stacked on top of the other towards the right side and two side by side 1 on the left and 1 in the center. Possibly some cable or wires running to each? One screen cap for each monitor. You do not normally see quad screens when you have multiple monitors.

However the actual size of the monitor s spot on.

Hi. Just some suggestions/things to consider.

The pale yellow light (outer glow!) on the text right of the screen seem off to me. If You want it to glow you could try to use a red color tone - juuust a little lighter than the actual red off the letters...

It's quite easy to make trhe screen glow, actually. While it will make a good effect - it's easily accomplished. You can just add a layer fill it with the pale white color You want (with the bucket tool) drop opacity to around 50%, resize so that it fits the TV screen - then use your eraser on it to make the round corners. From there it's easy to add outer glow in the same pale white light.
Another way of achieving this would be to dublicate your TV set - erase all but the screen. Then add outer glow.

Hope I'm making sense here. Otherwise, feel free to ask me to elaborate.

Ok tried with the monitors in different positions but it didnt work out to well they looked clumped together so keeping them where they are i think for now.

Have added the screen caps to them and joined them with some wires.

I couldnt find any decent pics of wires that were suitable so i made some myself(hope they look ok and like wires should lol)

I dont think theres much to be added, what do you think?

Awesome job on the back there ULAM.

This is gettin' better and better ULAM! - One thing caught my eye, though. I your spec box - I think "Captioned" should be on the same line as "Subt?tulos" and "Sous-Titre".

I think your wirering looks great! And home-made at that. Very impressive, ULAM!

You aught to take a closer look at the person on the front - there a thin white line around him that needs to be erased.

Also You might consider (even though it's probablyt hard to find) i higher res pic of them lips You have on the TV screen - or find a suitable hires pic of someone else's lips.

Other than that - I think it's definately getting there!

Cheers Shaun and JR

Didnt notice the spec box bit, cheers mate will correct that.

Yeah quite proud of my wires

The lips i captured myself from the film, maybe i'll have another go at a higher level.

Cheers for the input :)

Update looks good.

Some feedback on the wires. They do look real. However, I think that they would be better suited in black than RGB. Closed circuit run off of coax. Also you may want to make the (Left and Right) and (Top and bottom) different from one another just to add in some chaos. It all looks too even right now.

Okey dokes will have ago a making some black cables tomorrow i did think of black ones but i thought the colour brought it out a bit more?

In the mean time what do you think of the bottom left monitor with stretchy out hand thingy
Keep it or not?

gravital
11-30-2007, 12:09 AM
I like it. I think that a shadow could be added to the monitor housing, but not the blue background. Something to also take into consideration is the ratio in sixe of the hand stretchy thing to the monitor. These monitors are very small in size. No bigger than 10 inches. So... I think that the habd should be bigger. Just my thoughts though. It owill still work without the change in size

You are killing me with these downloads! I know 2.32 MB sounds like nothing but she is kickin my butt on time to download. From now on I think that a preview size will be good enough. We have already established the rez is not an issue. We are just working on composition and placement at this point and preview size will suffice.
