View Full Version : Little Children dragonwarrior 11-07-2007, 02:00 PM just watched this on sky movies, great film boneapart 11-07-2007, 02:08 PM Nice cover DW, but I'm not too keen on the way the justification of the Synopsis has turned out. Looks a bit too spaced out for me... shaunofthedead9 11-07-2007, 03:43 PM I agree with Boney, the synopsis is just not flowing it's too choppy. Other than that not bad at all DW. JollyRoger 11-07-2007, 03:53 PM If I may? Again a really good start, DW! A few pointers though: The front: The 2 pics do not share the same colortone - the one on top has a redish tint to it. Easily adjusted: [ctrl+u] - try to slide the top most slider to see if You can get the colortone to match the one below. Another approach will be [ctrl+l] there You can adjust each color separately. Try the different sliders to match the colortone. I agree with Boneapart and Shaunofthedead9 on the synopsis. The pic right next to it could use a darker black level. It is a little light compared to the rest of the back. Try to set the black level at about 20 - and see if that is enough to match the rest of the backside. Otherwise - nice job! gravital 11-07-2007, 08:59 PM Another thing that you may want to consider is the use of two seperate main images on the front. I like both of them individually but think that the cover would have more impact with only using the main bottom image. Do not be afraid of empty space. Sometimes it benefits the feeling that you are trying to convey. dragonwarrior 11-07-2007, 09:16 PM Another thing that you may want to consider is the use of two seperate main images on the front. Sometimes it benefits the feeling that you are trying to convey. damn i was ( this ) close to doing exactly that, i even tried the bottom pic just a tad down from middle but coz his arm is slightly missing gave up on it, (without top pic) as for synposis there are times when i paste the text in and it looks close enough and then there are times (like this) when there are gaps. i guess it's the kerning thing, more playing around with it, me thinks as mentioned in another thread i'll have to wait untill bairn is off LT, as my comp is not powerfull enough to do covers. dragonwarrior 11-07-2007, 10:56 PM can't seem to get the synops right, how does it look now, ? if there is an easier way, i guess it will be hard for me:lol: JollyRoger 11-07-2007, 11:44 PM Have You tried adding a little drop shadow on the synopsis? @ the front: G was right again about losing the 2nd pic, however I can't help but getting the feeling that the TT/Actor's names will crush the people lying at the bottom in the near future. To help this - move 'em upwards. Perhaps TT in the middle, actor's at the very top of the front (or directly above the title, but with the names shrunk a bit) dragonwarrior 11-08-2007, 04:32 AM like this shaunofthedead9 11-08-2007, 05:06 AM Much better DW! Great work. dragonwarrior 11-08-2007, 07:27 AM Thanx sotd gravital 11-08-2007, 10:45 PM Update looks better. You may want to try another color for the synopsis. That may be what is causing the problem when you try and play with the kerning to follow the outline of her face. JollyRoger 11-09-2007, 12:16 AM Update looks better. You may want to try another color for the synopsis. That may be what is causing the problem when you try and play with the kerning to follow the outline of her face. Like SOTD9 and Gravital I think ur update rocks! The front looks much better, cleaner than before! Great job! G has a point, though. The synopsis is still off. The drop shadow did do something, but not nearly enough. One thing You?ll want to change is to make it have a clean flow beside her face. The fifth line sticks way out. Either break the word in two - or it's a rewrite. The second, more important thing is to make that synopsis work. G may have a point in just changing the color, but You could also just add a line around each letter. This is quite easy. Click on the layer of Your text and select "add layer mask" at the bottom of your layers palette to the right (f), and select the first option. Now I do not have the English version of PS - so the attached picture only shows which layer mask to choose. After selecting, change the color to black, and set pixel width to 1,2 or 3 - whichever pleases You. That could do the trick 4 ya. Please keep those updates coming, as I'm lookin' forward to see Your progress! //JR |
