Well, I'm making a DVD cover for 28 Weeks Later and I made a disc design as well. The Cover isn't finished as I need to put some stills and various text in needed places. It's for my copy which is the Thai release of the film so the Thai text for the spine and front is what I'm stuck with on the scans from the VCD cover. I printed out the disc design and it looks nice. I know I got to fix some white spots on the spine and that specs are visible on the back, I'm going to be throwing some blood graphics on it to smooth it out so it doesn't look as bad.

The main issue that I see is the edge of the title, mainly on the label and spine. It still needs some cleaning up. It may be easier for you to just recreate the title in PS with some text and shape layers.

If you wanted to remove the Thai text it look slike it would be a breeze, as they are in areas that have minimal detail and would be prime candidates for the clone brush and simply erasing the areas.

That yellow speck sticks out on the label. I might just remove the Thai on the spine but for the front I think it adds a little character to it. I threw some stills on the back but I'm not completely finished with it. I'll post the updates later.

The black levels need to be raised and there are dust spots to clean up. I also recommend typing in the actual title/logo on the spine as it looks unnatural in its placement at the moment. Have you thought about replacing the back scan with a poster? We have a similar high res version in the gallery if thats the look your after.

I fixed the spine a little. I guess I could just redo the title on the spine.

I'm restarting it since I had some problems. I adjusted the stuff a bit.

Since you've made those changes it is now looking much better, although there is a little bit of the Spine title at the Top Right of the letter "R" that needs removing. Just a small thing but will look better if removed...

All right, I found this in the abyss of my other computer since my other crashed and all the stuff got deleted. Thank god it was the PSD file.

Not bad...not sure why you've used scanned material as there should be plenty of HQ stuff around. I think the blue and green text on the back might be a bad move...you're just complicating it all and it's not easy to read at all. Try black or white with a contrasting drop shadow or outer glow. The same goes for the legal text and logo's at the bottom. Try to work with just one simple colour theme throughout, makes things look much smoother.

The blood I think could be a deeper red with dark and light spots and with less opacity applied. Have a look on Google for blood splatters to see what it looks like in real life.
