SilentWarrior 03-20-2007, 03:23 AM There are other programs out there. I have tried Nero cover designer but in all honesty it doesn't compare to photoshop. If your going to make a cover you may as well use photoshop if you have access to it, and learn as you go along. Danno 04-13-2007, 04:37 PM I use a combo of programs - Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 (9's not bad, but not really worth an upgrade) - easy to find and cheap to buy. MS Publisher I clean up the scans, and crop them to 3 separate parts - front, back and spine. I create a new spine at 80px width. Then I use a Publisher template that's set up with crop marks and 3 white photos, import the new art, and print away. With some white covers, the crop marks come in really handy. I never really liked Photoshop, but it'll probably do the job for you - give it a couple of hours of learning how, and you'll be amazed at what you can do. Danno kylumi 04-13-2007, 05:22 PM hehehehehe.......Danno...................Photoshop is the industry standard for designers of all types thats why the suite costs ?1000 sterling. A couple hours:omg: ...............i have been using it for years and still learn something new every time I open it up. Danno 04-14-2007, 03:52 PM Yup - Photoshop's price tag was pretty much my first turn-off - Paint Shop Pro was much more reasonably priced, and usually does what I want it to (if I can figure out how to do it). A couple hours ...............i have been using it for years and still learn something new every time I open it up. Oh, I'm still finding nifty features on PSP - I never said anyone could master either of them in a couple of hours, just that it only took a few hours to learn to use the basic tools, and get hooked on the features. Funny thing - I watched my daughter use Paintbrush for *years* to do pixel-by-pixel work on images, stubbornly insisting that PSP was too hard to learn. Then I showed her the tube feature (which I'd overlooked for years), and now she's developing skill with PSP features I've never used. In a few months, she'll probably be showing me how to do things. But I may never see her open Paintbrush again ;-) Danno (fighting with the layout on that Mummies cover thing - you folks have raised the bar on what I think of as 'good enough') |
