I've been using a Canon i320 for a few years now and it's been printing a black line on anything that I print whether it's DVD covers or text docs or whatever. I've tried pretty much anything I can think of; cleaning ,deep cleaning ,roller cleaning all numerous times and I also uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. I've attached a dvd cover so you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about.is it time for a new printer? thanks in advance.

I thought your issues were sorted here (http://www.dvdcoversfuzion.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2026). If your still having the issues, and you've tried everything, from cleaning/changing the head to testing all the settings, then it may be time to invest in a new printer. The covers should turn out nothing like the scan you previewed...in fact they should look like studio quality if done properly with a good quality printer setup.
is it possible that you can take out the whole printing head?? if so then try to clean it with water, warm water not hot, i have a canon pixma ip5000 and when i have problems i just clean it with water. just be carefull not to damage the elektronics components, this works for me all the time

It looks and sounds like the print head is gone for good.

I don't think this printer prints on A4 sized sheets.

My printer is from the photosmart range which I'm happy with so I can personally recommend them. Keep in mind they do not print directly on disc. Here 2 current models I found:

http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?storeName=storefronts&landing=printers&category=photosmart_printers&subcat1=&catLevel=2&a1=Function&v1=Print%2C+copy%2C+scan&product_code=Q8160A%23ABA&tab=detailed_specs#defaultAnchor
You should be able to find these cheaper in your local store as well.

If You're looking for a good Multipurpose printer/scanner/etc., then I recommend Canon PiXma MP600 - It's won a few tests from time to time - It's the one I have - and It's been working like a charm. It comes in a wireless model also (but then it get's a bit more expensive). This machine alos prints on fullface discs.
A good choice!

I myself have an HP PSC 1610V All in One printer and it does a great job for me when I print covers from in here. They look better than retail
