Whats the most approprate paper to print covers on? If a certain type of paper produces better results then great. Standard paper just doesn't look to great.

I use HP semi-gloss photo paper. It's sort of half matte/ half gloss and my eyes tell me it looks good in the case:D. And yes standard paper doesn't look too crash hot.

I use this. Good quality print and quite cheap too.

Edit: just noticed that you only get 50 sheets in this pack. I got 3 packs (each containing 200 sheets) for the price of 2 a couple of years back, total cost £17. Best to buy in store.

Bought some gloss photo paper today from Asda 50 sheets for £3(was reduced from £7)
Now i know gloss isnt always the best but i thought for £3 its worth trying, if no good the kids can get some use outa it :D

Its 180GSM Middle Weight but i havent a clue what thay means so is it better to have different weight and higher/lower GSM?

well once a year i buy my paper from this site http://websites.uk-plc.net/247_Ink/products/PHOTO_PAPER_110440.htm

I always ring and order over the phone it's free P&P and you get the ad states 1000 matte sheets but infact you get 10 packs with 108 sheets in each the quality of print outs is outstanding.....but needless to say i infact think this is only available in UK i maybe wrong you'd have to ring and find out.....

i don't care much for glossy stuff as i compared glossy to these sheets i use and there's no difference when they are inserted in a new case as the sleeve on the cover acts as a gloss effect anyways......i only use glossy for family photo's...

Does the type of paper you print on reflect on on how much ink is used, will Gloss use more ink then Satin and Satin more then plain paper etc, or is there no difference?

Yes.................paper absorption quality differs from type to type............generally gloss paper absorbs less but the drying time will be longer;)

Ah thats good to know as ive only just switched to Gloss and Satin paper and thought they may take up more , but good to hear they take less :D

I dont mind about the drying time :)

I use the Photo Inkjet from WHSMITH as posted above, but ink usage matters not to me,for i use the fabled CIS!
Had mine for what will be 2 years this christmas, and i'm still only just coming up to needing my second refill of the reservoirs! This has to be the best investment i have ever made.

Yep,sure is,used with an Epson R220,6 colour inks.I've prolly printed in excess of 300 covers, all printed at photo quality onto photo inkjet paper, plus prolly the same amount of labels, plus all my other printing. All in all,a very sound purchase!

It's well worth the investment. This is where i bought mine.........

This is the exact system i have, and the same seller i bought mine from.I had problems with the first unit i had,but they exchanged it no problems. It comes pre-filled with 100ml of ink in each reservoir(600mls),the equivalent of about 60 normal carts(10x 6 cart replacements!).
Cheap as chips!!

For my Epson R220,i have six 100ml reservoirs which sit behing my printer. They are connected to the six colour carts,by flexible latex tubes. The carts have special chips on them, that automatically reset the ink level counter back to 100%,before the carts are empty. The carts are primed using syringes(everything is supplied by the seller i bought mine from). The carts are put in the printer just like any normal carts.
When the ink level re-sets,the Epson software tells you,and tells you you are not using genuine Epson carts, and would you like to proceed, just click ok,and you're back in business.
If you click on the link i put in my previous post, you can see pics of the system all set up.

I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these. :)

A few questuins if you dont mind mate

The price was about £40 with P&P and you get the ink and all tools needed with it is that right?

How much is replacement ink for it, have you bought any yet?

What price was you paying for carts before buying this, where they Epson original carts?

I have used both the matte paper and semi gloss. While the plastic cover does give a shiny look I must say that I am very pleased with the semi-gloss 165 g/m^2 that I use. Provides an even glossier finish and sits very nicely (squared off) inside the cover.

Mine came with 600ml of ink already in the reservoirs,it's all pre-connected up to the carts,so all you do is prime the carts with the supplied syringes(i got 1 syringe for each colour supplied with mine)and pop the carts in.You do have to make 1 modification to your printer...you have to remove the clamp that locks in the ordinary carts(because the CIS ones have the tubes coming out the top),but thats easily done..just 2 small screws.
The ink is cheap as chips too, here's one on E-BAY selling 600ml for £13.95Click Me. (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/600ml-Bulk-Ink-System-Bottle-Refill-Set-R200-R220-R300_W0QQitemZ250109251111QQihZ015QQcategoryZ10132 5QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
I bought original Epson carts first, then switched to compatibles, but tbh,the amount of times i had to replace them, just worked out too expensive. There's so little ink in them, and remember, you lose quite a bit of ink each time the printer primes a new cart,so this system is way more economical.
Like i said before,i've had it for 2 years this christmas, and i'm nearing the end of my FIRST re-fill,so when i have to re-fill,that will finish off the FIRST 600ml of ink i've had to buy,the first 600ml came with the CIS.It's gotta be a sound investment all round......
