View Full Version : what do you think hitman 02-27-2007, 08:34 AM hi guys this is the first cover i have ever done so any feed back good or bad would help......... SilentWarrior 02-27-2007, 09:47 AM This is actually quite good for a first cover. Its good that you ask for feedback good or bad, this is how I learned. This is my thoughts on your cover. - Resolution is incorrect, should be 3240x2175. You can use the template from the tools of the trade section. If you turn on 'view guides' with this template in photoshop it will show you how big the spine should be. - The background image of the cover looks stretched. Did you use it from a wallpaper? You can find high resolution poster art at movieposterdb.com. You can also find some really cool high res images at outnow.ch (click posters in the left navigation). - I recommend writing the logo in yourself in a custom unless you can extract it from a high quality image. In your case the logo ' LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA' is easily replicated. I have looked into this one and the logo looks very similar to the 'optimus princeps' font. You can get it at http://www.dafont.com/search.php?psize=m&q=optimus+princeps - You need to write the credits manually on a custom cover. Use the 'top billing font pack' in the tools of the trade section. - Your DVD, THX and Dolby Digital logo is too large. You should minimise them. You should fit as many of those logos as possible, eg. widescreen, closed captions, region etc....if you need any logo request it and i'll upload it. Just keep playing with it. It took many edits and changes before I was happy with the first cover I ever made. I asked for help in a similar fashion that you are and I have come a long way since. You are on the right track and I hope you keep working at it. Ask away with any other questions, we're here to help :D blueranger 02-28-2007, 08:07 PM wow . dark and moody . well done hitman 03-01-2007, 08:42 PM thanks blueranger.... and thanks for the info silentwarrior i am all new to playing about with things like this but am loving it......like i said coments good and bad you dont get good at something if you dont know where you are going wrong so thanks again........ SilentWarrior 03-01-2007, 10:31 PM I should also mention that I like the theme you are trying to evoke with this one, like blueranger said dark and moody. angrylion 03-03-2007, 03:01 AM Good stuff mate, and better than what I could ever come up with. The guys on here make quality art, stick with their advice and I'm sure you will be designing brilliant covers in no time :) hitman 03-04-2007, 02:49 PM hi guys this is my second attempt at a cover after the first one (letters from iwo jima) i took on board the feed back and started a new cover from scratch this is not finished yet not happy with the spine and a few other bits....let me know what you think like i said before good and bad......cheers guys SilentWarrior 03-04-2007, 10:00 PM Your second one is a big improvement over your first and I like your color theme. The spine is empty, tho I gather you are still working on it. It will look better once you add logos etc. I also believe that the logo on your spine should be like the one on the front just rotated 90 degrees cw instead of how letters are piled on one another. The teen logo at the back is actually for games. I uploaded US film rating logos in the tools of the trade section. Also to make it a lot easier for you I highly recommend that you download mjcovers template for columbia pictures (http://www.dvdcoversfuzion.com/forum/showthread.php?t=148). It has all the elements necessary for a columbia cover, including logos, specifications and all the fine print for the back. You just need to select which layers you want and move them into your spiderman cover. This will save you a lot of time and will make it look genuine. Good to see you are doing Spiderman 3. It's actually on my covers to do list.:D kylumi 03-08-2007, 09:09 PM keep going buddy...................its a long curve..............but, you will enjoy every minute of it;) |
